Retired

(Prahran, 2015)

Taken on my way out of the apartment. Was fiddling with the settings when I looked up and saw an opportunity. Smiled my biggest smile at the retirees (they must have thought me crazy) when I passed them. Lesson from this - photo opportunities are everwhere. We just have to be attentive.

My unintentional models - A personal study on human poses

(Victoria Street, 2015)

Was initially an album on Facebook of people I shot on the street using the Canon 300mm L lens. Later on to be added with more photos I took using the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 lens. I found the posture of this man (that I shot at Victoria Market) had a certain style about him, so I thought I'd share it here. More can be viewed over on my Facebook album here

Best wishes,

E

Whoops.

(Southern Cross Station, 2015)

Taken moments before I got a stern telling off from the public safety officer for taking photos in the vicinity of the train station. I actually got a perfect shot of the couple prior - but decided to use this photograph instead (mainly due to the intervention of the officer). I guess it has a better story to tell. That is the point of street photography, is it not?

Best,

E.

Clouds help me line my shot

Wynnard Quarter (Auckland, 2014)

Whenever I take landscapes or just photographs that feature skies, I always try to get the clouds to line up in the framing. I guess that's one of the piece of advice that Reimund Zunde (my mentor) taught me that has stuck with me till today (ALWAYS line up your shots! - Rei)

Best,
Elyas
