Clouds help me line my shot

Wynnard Quarter (Auckland, 2014)

Whenever I take landscapes or just photographs that feature skies, I always try to get the clouds to line up in the framing. I guess that's one of the piece of advice that Reimund Zunde (my mentor) taught me that has stuck with me till today (ALWAYS line up your shots! - Rei)

Sunset silhouette (Yarra's Edge, 2012)

The sunset silhouette. Building I photographed in Yarra's Edge in Docklands Melbourne. Shot during summer in twilight, Australia has one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Shot with the Canon 60D with the 24-105mm lens.

One of my more favourite photographs.

Print can be bought here

Overloaded: White Night Melbourne 2014

Taken during White Night Melbourne 2014. Didn't photograph much due to the fact it was overcrowded with people. Was still fun though. Hope it gets better next year. Shot in black and white because I got bored seeing WNM in colour. Hahaha.

Best, Elyas

When A City Stays Up All Night (White Night Melbourne 2013)

Hi there,

Quick post - Am busy editing a client's family portraits. Hopefully I have permission to post some over here. Will let you know :)

However, I did promise some White Night Melbourne pictures. I have edited most of them - Just don't seem to have the time to write my post out yet.

For the time being, here's one of them - A shot of Flinder's Street Station in all its glory. Dubbed Wonderland by the organisers, it was beautifully transformed into a stage where we were treated to performances from 7pm to 6am. Brilliant stuff. Plus Cat Empire performed, which just sweetened the deal for me.

Hats off to Electric Canvas for the beautiful light projections on all the buildings. By far the best night organised by a city that I've experienced.

Best,
E.

From God's point of view

Its always nice to be able to shoot from afar. In this case, high above. The missus and I were fortunate enough to be given free passes to a famous Melbourne sky-high attraction, and it surely did not disappoint. After taking like a million bad shots (Among the millions of people - go later in the evening #tip), found that I had some gems after all. So after a bit of normal curve editing and some added on filters, settled on these three. They look like God is playing Sim City, right! (Sim City 2000 - great game, 'nuf said.)

Best,

Elyas
